33DC Day Two: Most Used Colour Polish

Hi there!

It's the second of The Crumpet's 33 day nail art challenge, and today's prompt is 'your most used colour polish'. I wasn't sure which one mine was, so I lined up some of favourite polishes to see which I had used the most of and there was a clear winner. China Glaze Fast Track is half gone! I hadn't even realised I had used so much of it!

I decided to go with a beach theme for my mani, since I've always thought that Fast Track mattified looks quite a lot like sand.

All photos taken indoor, artificial light

I started with two coats of Fast Track. Unfortunately, as my bottle is getting a little old now the formula has become thicker. It's not unworkable, just not as nice as it used to be! Maybe I should invest in some thinner...). I love the golden shimmer this polish has, it's such an interesting nude! I used my Rimmel Matte Finish topcoat so that it looked more like sand.

Then I mixed Sinful Colors Snow Me White with a little Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Blue Me Away and painted it onto my tips with a small brush, to try and create waves. I added the details with Snow Me White and a toothpick.

I do like this manicure, but now that I look at it again, I wish I'd added some bigger waves, and maybe a starfish or something as well, to make it more obvious what I was going for. Never mind, it was a good chance to use Fast Track again.

Don't forget to check out the other manis done for today's challenge down below!

(Also, I'm experimenting with the size of the photos on the blog - I think I like them this size, but let me know what you prefer!)

33DC Day One: Dots

Hey!

I'm so excited to be posting again, and to be doing some nail art again! Since I posted yesterday, I have since discovered the nail art challenge is actually being hosted by Debbie of The Crumpet, so that is a lesson to me - I should always always always do more research!

On to the nail art for today! The prompt for day one is dots, and I decided to go subtle, rather than all out polka dots.

All photos taken under artificial light. Also, they're hideously colour inaccurate.

I started with two coats of Collection 2000 Electric Dreams, a gorgeous teal which I love so much! The formula is so easy to work with, and it dries fairly fast too. Unfortunately it has shown up far more blue in these photos than it is in real life - it is the perfect balance between blue and green for me, with a slightly dusty look to it.

Then I used a toothpick (since I still don't own any dotting tools) and No 17 Peacock to create little dots on the tips of all my nails. It's a blue-green metallic with some shimmer which looks fabulous as a full mani! I really like it as an accent in this one too, it's subtle but definitely noticeable.

Unfortunately, I either had something on my nail when I painted them, or it bubbled when it dried, so I have a couple bumps/bubbles you can see in the photos. Maybe it was too hot in my room.

I topcoated the design with my trusty Barry M 3-in-1 topcoat, which I also used for my base.

I did try to colour correct these photos in photoshop, but it makes my skin look very strange, so I'll only show you one of them! It's still not true to life, but it's closer than the other photos. (Apparently my camera doesn't like blues and greens.)

Thanks for reading!

Gnarly Gnails Nail Art Challenge

Hi guys!

I'm sorry I haven't posted in such a long time. I've been in a nail art rut, and then I had exams, and then I was on holiday, and now I've just moved into uni, so I've been very busy!

I had been thinking about doing the 30 day NAil Art Challenge this year for the first time, but decided to ease myself into it gently (!) by doing Gnarly Gnails' challenge instead. It's only thee times a week, not every day so hopefully it will be more manageable. I might not manage to post everything on time, but if things get a little hectic for me I'll take a break and come back to it - I'm excited to start using my polishes in a more exciting way again!

For the images and prompts go here and it will give you all the details. The challenge starts tomorrow, so get started if you want to join in!

Bye!

Hufflepuff Pride

Hello there!

There are two things you need to know about this manicure. One is that I love Harry Potter. The second is that I love the Hufflepuff House.

So I did Hufflepuff nail art. Obviously.

Hallucinate Jelly Sandwich

Hello there!

It is fantastically sunny in the UK for once - maybe summer is finally here - and I am nearly out of revision hell, which means I can play with my nail polishes more!

I decided to try my first ever glitter jelly sandwich manicure, and I think it turned out okay!

Circular Gallifreyan

Hello there!

It's been a while since I last posted, but hopefully now that I'm on exam leave I'll be able to keep the blog updated - although we'll have to see how much revision interferes with that plan!

On Tuesday evening, I went to my school's Leavers Ball - which was great fun - and obviously it was an excuse for more nail art. It was a fancy dress party, with the theme of 'childhood memories' so I went as the Tenth Doctor, and my best friend went as Rose Tyler (both from Doctor Who, if you didn't know.)

Absence

Hello there!

I hadn't realised I hadn't posted in so long! Revision for my exams in a couple of months caught up with me, and I didn't have time to do anything for the blog, never mind take photos and edit them and write a post. So please accept my humble apologies for not being here.

I leave school in a couple weeks, and even though I'll still have to do lots of revision until my exams are over on 12th June, I should be able to actually put some time and focus into this blog. I really want to start running it properly, but at the minute my workload is preventing that. However, just before I leave school, we all have this big fancy dress party (which I'm VERY excited for!) and I should be doing some nail art for that, so hopefully I'll be able to show you that.

Again, apologies for my absence, and it'll still be quiet around here for a few more weeks, but I haven't abandoned the blog after only 3 posts!

Green and Gold Leaves

Hello there!

So the title of this post isn't exactly awe-inspiring, even though I LOVE this manicure, I just couldn't work out what to call it. I took the design from this ring, which I am wearing in the pictures even though you can't see it, because I'm an idiot and forgot to take pictures of the ring! you can click on the link and see it in all its glory though.

Doctor Who - The Bells of St John Nail Art

Hello there!

I wasn't going to actually start this blog, it had became something of a shelved project, but then I just really wanted to share the nail art I did for the return of Doctor who tonight in the UK. So without furthur ado, here is my nail art for the episode which will air tonight - 'The Bells of St John'.
